Dog Race – Return The Day (Colours)
Bedford and London’s five-piece Dog Race are making waves with their debut EP “Return The Day,” set for release on June 6th via Fascination Street Records. Their new track “Return The Day (Colours)” showcases their signature gothic intensity and psychological depth that’s been earning them critical acclaim.
Vocalist Katie Healy describes the EP as “a soundscape born from sleepless nights, intrusive thoughts, and the quiet war between the mind and the world around me.” This artistic vision manifests vividly in “Return The Day (Colours),” a blistering, fast-paced outcry that depicts joy fading to grey and vibrant inspiration dulling into monotony.
This track stands out because of its relentless energy—rapid drums create an urgent foundation, while gritty synths and a persistent bassline generate a sense of controlled chaos. Above this sonic turbulence, airy textures float, emphasising the emotional contrast between momentum and melancholy.
This release follows their previous singles “The Leader” with its icy operatic swells and “It’s The Squeeze” with its stark theatrics – tracks that garnered praise from BBC Radio 6 and landed them a spot in 2025’s NME100. “It’s The Squeeze” even impressed critic Anthony Fantano, who placed it in his list of Best Singles of 2024.
